WordComet is a "word of the day" service available as a Chrome extension and a mobile application. Our mission is to help you expand your vocabulary — not to harvest your data.

We aim to collect only what is essential to provide the WordComet service:

• Push Notification Tokens — If you opt in to daily word notifications, we store your device's push subscription endpoint to deliver them.
• Basic Usage Analytics — Anonymous, aggregated data such as daily active users and feature engagement to help us improve the product.
• Device & Platform Info — Browser type, OS version, and app version for compatibility and debugging purposes.

We do not collect your name, email address, location, browsing history, or any personally identifiable information unless you voluntarily provide it (e.g., when contacting us for support).

The data we collect is used exclusively to:

• Deliver the daily word of the day content to your device.
• Send push notifications if you have opted in.
• Understand aggregate usage patterns to improve WordComet.
• Diagnose technical issues and ensure service reliability.

WordComet may send you daily push notifications containing the word of the day. Notifications are entirely opt-in — you can enable or disable them at any time through your browser or device settings.

We use Web Push with VAPID keys for the Chrome extension. Your push subscription data is stored securely on our servers and is used solely for delivering WordComet notifications.

WordComet may use the following third-party services:

• Web Push Protocol — For delivering browser notifications via standard push APIs.
• Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) — For delivering push notifications on the mobile app.
• Analytics Services — For anonymous, aggregated usage tracking (no personal data is shared).

Each third-party service operates under its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them. We do not share, sell, or trade your personal information with any third party for marketing purposes.

Your data is stored on secure servers with industry-standard protections including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), access controls, and regular security reviews.

We retain push notification tokens only as long as your subscription is active. If you unsubscribe or uninstall the extension/app, your token data is removed during our regular data cleanup process.

You have the right to:

• Opt out of push notifications at any time through your browser or device settings.
• Request deletion of any data we hold about you by contacting us.
• Request information about what data we have stored that relates to you.
• Uninstall the extension or app at any time, which will cease all data collection.

WordComet is a general-audience vocabulary tool and does not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of WordComet after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
